Hi - I'm Amaliya (she/her/hers) and I'm so glad you are considering therapy! Clients usually come to me seeking a therapist who is supportive, empowering, and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a place to feel comfortable to be yourself and move towards your personal goals, you came to the right place. I'm excited to work with you!

Counseling Style

Every person is unique, therefore I use a variety of counseling theories to guide my work, depending on your goals and your strengths. I use a feedback-informed approach, so that I truly understand your needs and you can get the most out of therapy. I am a secular mental health counselor, and some of the types of therapies I use are evidence-based. A few include:

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Feminist Theory
Solution-Focused Therapy

Cognitive Processing Therapy
Family Systems Theory

Internal Family Systems
Humanistic Theory
Emotionally Focused Therapy (for relationships)
Gottman Approach (for relationships)

I also integrate the lens of colonial and systemic influences that impact mental health issues in an effort to decolonize my therapy practice.

Qualifications

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and provide video sessions in states of Florida, Utah, Washington, Vermont, Maine, and South Carolina. I am also a Certified Sex Therapist. My Education Specialist and Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling are from Florida State University. In addition to specializing in sex therapy, I have experience helping others with identity struggles, anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse. I have worked in university counseling centers, community mental health agencies, and substance abuse facilities.

I decided to start my own business so I can help the clients I am most passionate about working with and to have more work - life balance. I enjoy helping individuals and relationships with sex related concerns. Recognizing that sex is often overlooked in counseling, yet can impact our well-being and mental health, I feel my specialty is a much needed one. Being able to align my work with my values of advocacy and social justice in communities I serve has been important for me.

On a personal note

I was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the US in my childhood. As an adult, I came out to my loved ones and began living a life that is authentic to me. My experiences are not everyone's, and I don't rely solely on them when working with my clients. I have completed extensive trainings to ensure I am competent and knowledgeable in working with people from all walks of life. What my experience did offer was a passion for working with clients who are diverse, as well as in values around advocacy for minority populations. ALL are welcome in my practice!

I am an LGBTQ+, poly/ENM, kink, and neurodivergence affirming therapist who provides a safe, non-judgmental space for all of my clients.
